Favorite adult book recommendation — Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

This novel manages to simultaneously be the funniest book I’ve ever read and the third most depressing book I’ve ever read. That’s quite the combination. It should be required reading for anyone thinking about bureaucracy, absurdity, and war in the industrial age.

Favorite young adult book recommendation — Watership Down by Richard Adams

This is just a good, old-fashioned adventure novel. Our heroes have to escape a disaster at home and survive an overland trek in order to establish new lives for themselves. And they’re rabbits. “Silflay hraka, u embleer rah.” Indeed.
